Louisa Pilbeam is an international news anchor with experience across Al Jazeera, BBC News, Sky News, and ITV News, delivering live coverage to global audiences of over 430 million people in more than 150 countries.

 

She joined Al Jazeera in 2025, where she anchors major breaking news and global analysis, with a focus on international politics, business, and economics, including hosting Al Jazeera's Counting the Cost business programme.

Previously at the BBC, Louisa spent five years as a news anchor and correspondent, covering major global events including the outbreak of the Russia–Ukraine war in February 2022. She was one of the first journalists to report the breaking news of Moscow's invasion. Louisa played a key role in the BBC’s coverage of the Covid-19 pandemic.

At Al Jazeera, she has led major international developments including the US-Israel-Iran conflict, the Israel–Gaza war, high-level US–Ukraine political negotiations, and the twists and turns of Trump's trade tariffs.

Louisa began her broadcast career at ITV News, where she worked as a correspondent for five years and received a national gold award for journalism. She previously trained as a reporter at the Daily Mirror after being selected for its competitive graduate scheme.She holds a degree in English and History from the University of Southampton and has a strong interest in global affairs, history, and long-form writing.
